Calendar

• Monday, Feb. 23: Board of directors work session and regular meeting. The work session will begin at 5 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 6 p.m. Both are open to the public at the Lewisville Campus and viewable via livestreaming. Get the details.

• Wednesday, Feb. 25: One-hour late start for most schools. Teachers will use this time to work together to implement best practices of high-quality instruction. Students will be released at the usual times.

• Friday, Feb. 27: Deadline to register for world language testing, available for students in grades 8-12. See more details and register.

Provide input on budget cuts that will affect BGPS schools

Following the failure of its proposed replacement educational programs and operations levy, Battle Ground Public Schools will hold two listening sessions to collect input on cuts that will need to be made for the 2026-27 school year. The listening session dates are:

• March 4 at Battle Ground High School 

• March 11 at Prairie High School

Both sessions are from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and are open to the public. Anyone may attend either or both sessions.

In addition to these sessions, people will be able to provide their input via two online tools. Please watch for more information. While the listening sessions and tools are not meant to be a vote on the cuts, all feedback and comments will be carefully reviewed.

Enrollment is open for many of the district’s specialized, alternative learning programs

Battle Ground Public Schools’ specialized and alternative learning programs are accepting applications for the 2026-27 school year. Programs are available for students in kindergarten through high school. Please see each program’s website for details.

• Battle Ground Virtual Academy provides an online learning experience for students seeking flexibility while receiving support from their parents/guardians, while remaining connected to teachers. Learn about the enrollment process.

• Center for Agriculture, Science and Environmental Education (CASEE) is a half-day program that integrates lab science, Career & Technical Education and English for high school students. Find out how to enroll.

• Character and Academics for the Marketplace (CAM) Academy is a parent-partnered school offering rigorous academics alongside character development and practical workforce skills. Get enrollment details.

• The Open Doors GED program supports eligible Battle Ground students who have left school and/or have not met graduation requirements and want to earn a GED while building career and life skills. Learn more and apply now.

• River HomeLink is an accredited public school offering learning options that combine at-home instruction with on-campus support. See enrollment deadlines for River HomeLink and add your child’s information to the interest form. Space is limited.

• Summit View High School  serves students who need an individualized, self-paced approach to high school. Learn more about Summit View and complete the school’s intake form.

In addition to these programs, Battle Ground students can also access a variety of career and technical education classes and programs, Cascadia Tech Academy, and Running Start.

College and Career Fair

Join us at the upcoming College and Career Fair on Monday, March 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Battle Ground High School to learn about apprenticeship programs, trade schools, military branches and colleges. Free and open to the public. We hope you can join us!

Care Solace

We partner with Care Solace to provide students and their immediate family members with access to a network of mental health providers and services, including housing and food programs. Care Solace can connect you with providers accepting all forms of medical insurance and an option for those without insurance. To get started:

• Search anonymously for care providers.

• Contact a school psychologist or counselor and they will submit a referral on your behalf.

In case you missed it

School calendar adjustment for Dec. 17 closure

As a result of the closure of all schools on Dec. 17, 2025, BGPS except CAM Academy will use the first snow makeup day on the calendar. Schools will now be open on Friday, March 13, 2026. Students should attend school that day. Please note that any additional weather-related closures will require more changes to the calendar.

2026-27 school calendar approved

The district’s board of directors has approved next year’s academic calendar. Key dates include:

• First day of school: Sept. 1, 2026

• Thanksgiving break: Nov. 25-27

• Winter break: Dec. 21-Jan. 1, 2027

• Spring break: April 5-9

• Last day of school: June 15 (unless there are weather-related closures that must be made up at the end of the school year)

Late starts and waiver/inservice days may be added at a later date. 

Measles activity in Clark County

Although no measles cases have been identified in BGPS schools at this time, we want to prepare families for the possibility of cases spreading to our district. Due to the contagious nature of the disease, a measles case in school could result in students and staff having to stay home from school for at least 21 days if they have not provided documentation of measles immunity.
